South Kitsap is linked to the Seattle, Tacoma and Bremerton areas by a network of highways, plus bus and ferry services. State Highway 16 links Port Orchard to Tacoma over the Tacoma Narrows bridge to the south and Bremerton to the north.  A second bridge connecting the Kitsap/Gig Harbor peninsula to Tacoma has decreased communting times, however the bridges now collect tolls going east.

A passenger only ferry makes scheduled crossings between Port Orchard and Bremerton (call 1-360-373-2877 for information), connecting Port Orchard to Bremerton-Seattle ferry service provided by the Washington State Ferry System. Seattle and South Kitsap are directly connected by the Washington Ferry System's Fauntleroy-Vashon-Southworth ferry crossing, which takes approximately 40 minutes. For getting around in Port Orchard, there is  taxi service available. Five cab companies serve Kitsap county and Port Orchard.

Kitsap Transit provides seven separate Port Orchard bus routes, all originating at the marina. Their information number is (360)373-2877. Kitsap Transit also provides Access Service/Para Transit services. Jansen Tours provides charter bus services.

Bremerton National Airport serves the general aviation needs of the community and can accommodate jet aircraft, corporate aircraft and Boeing 737. Air service is provided from Bremerton National Airport directly to Seattle-Tacoma (Sea-Tac) International Airport.  A ground airport shuttle service is also available through Bremerton-Kitsap Airporter at 360-876-1737.
