Pirate Rendezvous Craft & Vendor Fair! Schedule of Events
The Port Orchard Chamber’s Annual Seagull Calling Festival will be celebrating 28 years hosting the World’s Biggest, Best (and maybe only) Seagull Calling Festival on Saturday, May 28th at the Port Orchard Waterfront Marina Park as part of the Kitsap Harbor Festival weekend (May 28-29th). Festivities for the weekend include the highly anticipated “Seagull” Wings Cook-off, where hundreds of “Seagull” wings are served up by both amateur and commercial contestants hoping to win bragging rights for their wing recipes.
Last year, Everybody's American Cookhouse won grand prize and The Red Dog Saloon took second place. The Port Orchard Lighthouse won the People's Choice award. Can your restaurant knock one of them off its throne? Don't own a restaurant, but have an amazing family wing recipe? Compete as amateurs against last year's Amateurs awards winners, Calvin Cowan and Mike Angell! Register in advance, set up a booth, and sell your wings to the hundreds of people attending the Seagull Calling Contest and Kitsap Harbor Festival.
The fun doesn’t end there! The Annual Seagull Calling Contest will take place with contestants young and old, as individuals or in groups, some in costumes--taking turns on the beach ‘calling the seagulls’ to win awards by mimicking the seagull’s call and beckoning the birds with tortillas, French fries, or bread. Registration for the Seagull Calling Contest is open from 1-2pm, and is FREE! The contest itself takes place on the beach from 1-2pm, and awards are handed out at 2:30pm. Awards are given for the Best Seagull Call, Most Seagulls Landed, Best Costume, and other awards as the judges see fit! There is no cost to participate in the Calling Contest. Previous Seagull Calling Contest winners are encouraged to join us at the event!
Other activities in Port Orchard include the Fathoms O’ Fun Pirate Rendezvous and Vendor Fair, which occurs both Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday at 10:00am, the third Annual Seagull Splat Run will commence! The Seagull Splat is sure to be big hit, with colorful splat targetting runners trying to dodge the colored splat bombs. The Port Orchard Farmers Market, live music by local bands, and a locally hosted beer garden will round out the festive weekend on Kitsap's South end.
For those of you looking for an experience of both sides of the water, be sure to check out the Kitsap Harbor Festival in Bremerton.
Boardwalk Events include over 50 booths featuring fabulous food, crafts, live music with some of your favorite bands, and a beer garden!
Bring the little ones for story time presented by the Kitsap Regional Library, or visit the KidZone for many thrilling activities for the little ones and the young at heart.
