Matt is a fourth generation South Kitsap resident, and has a long history of working with small businesses. He hopes to continue taking steps to make the Chamber a resource for local businesses by providing them training and offering other support to help them increase their sales and improve their profits. Matt looks forward to working in the community to make it a better place to live and do business. After graduating from Gonzaga, Matt returned to his hometown of Port Orchard, became a real estate agent, and opened a bookstore with his wife, Linda. Together, they were active in the Fathoms O’Fun organization and the Chamber of Commerce.
Later, Matt became the Area Support Manager for Mail Boxes Etc., supporting local franchisees across the Olympic Peninsula, helping them with virtually all aspects of running their business. He worked with owners on marketing, accounting, and operations. As manager, he was rapidly promoted from covering the Olympic Peninsula to working with over 60 franchisees across all of Western Washington. In this capacity, Matt was instrumental in franchises’ transitions from Mail Boxes Etc. to The UPS Store.
After nearly 10 years providing marketing and operational support to local franchisees, Matt went on to manage a string of 10 The UPS Store franchises in Pierce County. After leaving The UPS Store franchise system, Matt worked as the Director of Business Development for a Native American firm researching and responding to federal agency procurement requests.
Most recently, Matt was employed by Dex Media, a full service media company offering integrated marketing solutions. In working with them, he helped small businesses increase their sales and improve their profits. Matt enjoys encouraging and promoting local businesses and has experience dealing with the day-to-day issues that plague small business owners. As Chamber Director, he feels the Chamber of Commerce plays an important role in supporting local businesses and nurturing the community’s economy.
Jaclyn grew up in Enumclaw, temporarily settled down in Ravensdale, and finally moved to Port Orchard to raise her children, so you can say that “small town” is what appeals to her ideal lifestyle. Jaclyn comes from a long background of office management in a wide range of industries. Also a small business owner, she is an advocate in the shop small and shop local movements.
